Geir Gjerdsjø

Background:
Geir has a master’s degree in music technology from NTNU, specializing in music and sound for film. In his master’s thesis, he explored the transdiegetic encounter between sound design and music in film, focusing on the narrative potential of such compositional techniques. As a film composer, Geir has contributed to a number of commercials, and also wrote music for the Swedish-Norwegian documentary film “Patriotic Highway” (2019). He also has extensive experience as a composer and arranger of choral music, and since 2009 has made well over 100 pieces and arrangements to order from choirs all over Norway. The three-part work “Lev vår draum” with lyrics by Tarjei Vesaas, was recorded on the many times Grammy-nominated record label 2L, by the award-winning Chamber Choir Aurum.

Musical:
As a sound designer and composer, Geir has a fondness for the meeting between realid and music. Whether it happens through how the sound of the music is shaped, or how it is used in conjunction with other sounds. Geir strives to create musical sequences that both set a mood and tell a story, and often does this in a mixture of acoustic and electronic soundscapes.
