John Stenersen is a Norwegian composer and musician from Risør in Agder, living in Oslo. He plays ancient Nordic instruments such as the nyckelharpa, moraharpa, and hurdy-gurdy, with bands like Wardruna and Bergtatt.
Stenersen composes music for film, computer games and theatre. He has composed all the music for the play “Birkebeinerspelet” and one song for the major film Birkebeinerne (The Last King) starring Kristoffer Hivju from Game of Thrones and Jakob Oftebro from Kon-Tiki. He has also composed all the music for the computer games Game of Gnomes and Z-files.
He has a wide range of musical experience and expertise, and his unique Nordic instruments gives the music a distinct Nordic character. He works with both acoustic and electric soundscapes.
